Need another reason to quit and start your own company? Here: Indian IT companies are one of the 10 worst paying employers in the world. According to a new study by MyHiringClub.com, mid to senior level staff in India get an average salary of $ 38,767 every year, less than a quarter of what IT employees are paid in Switzerland where the average salary is $ 168,211, reports PTI.
India came 8th in the rankings of worst paying nations. Switzerland pays the most to IT employees. The report which compared total remuneration for IT staff in more than 6,000 companies across 40 different countries in August found that Indian IT managers are paid more than their Chinese colleagues.
This is not the first time India has earned the sobriquet. Last year, India came 7th in the rankings with mid to senior level staff being paid an average of $ 36,120 per annum. Switzerland was at the same position last year.
Interestingly, neither the way in which the story was reported has changed much (see last year’s story and this year’s story) nor have the salaries. The IT industry has been one of the better paying industries in the country compared to other industries. However, since the 2008 financial crisis in the United States, salary levels have remained more or less static. The Indian IT industry depends on the United States and Europe for most of its revenues.
