15 Million Units Sold in 5-day Sale, Claims Amazon India

The e-commerce giant which concluded ‘Great Indian Festival’ season sale on Wednesday said it sold 15 million units, a third of which came from Prime, the company’s subscription-based loyalty programme.

Amazon’s Prime membership was launched in India in July which offers speedy delivery of products for a fixed subscription cost of Rs 499. According to the company, besides selling goods on the platform, the sales campaign also drive thousands of customers to buy the Prime subscription.

Amazon ran the sale from Oct 1 to 5, while as rivals Flipkart and Snapdeal are still running festive sales which would conclude on Thursday 6th October.
