Nokia plans to launch m-banking services

Nokia plans to launch Nokia Money, it’s mobile banking service early next year. The company is currently in talks with six banks to offer an universal platform where the mobile phone can be a medium for banking, international remittance, payment of utility bills, pay merchants for goods and services and buying tickets (via).

3G Auction

3G Auction, scheduled for 14th January has witnessed lack of interest from foreign firms. The auction is slated to generate Rs. 25K-30K crore for the government.

Foreign telcos that do not have operations in India have complained that while new 3G players will have to pay $410 million to obtain a licence to provide wireless and wireline services, they won’t get the start-up 2G spectrum that is required to provide traditional voice and data services. [more]
