One step forward and two step backward – that’s India’s 3G story.
A we mentioned earlier, govt has setup GoM (Group of Ministers) to decide on auction details and as per the latest reports, the GoM is yet to come out with clarifications on pricing of 3G spectrum.
And DoT is now saying that 3G auction ‘looks difficult’!
3G Data Card from BSNL
BSNL and Micromax have entered into an agreement for sale and distribution of 3G data cards.
Micromax has launched data cards in the USB form factor. The 3G card weighs less than 50 gm and can be used along with both notebooks as well as in desktop. The product supports certain versions of Windows as well as Mac 0S.
3G services of BSNL are currently available in 11 cities and the company plans to take this to 700 cities in the next 2-3 months.
Few days back, DoT asked BSNL and MTNL to stop their 3G service, owing to security concerns raised by IB department – while we wait for the final decision, it seems Indian govt. is least bothered regarding 3G services and is waiting for better valuation/auction money.
