Cracking one of the world’s toughest exam, without relying on coaching centres for help, might sound impossible for many, but this year’s aspirants who appeared for IIT-JEE have broken the myth by doing just that.
According to a report published by IIT-Guwahati, 5,539 students (52.4%) out of the 10,576 who got admission to IITs had studied on their own, compared to 4,711 (44.5%) who had opted for coaching institutes.
The infamous desert town of Kota, in Rajasthan, which has seen more than 8 student suicide cases, has churned out the maximum 1646 students this year, the report revealed.
