AgroStar, a mobile commerce company that sells agricultural inputs directly to farmers, has raised $4 million in funding led by IDG Ventures.
The company sells seeds, nutrients, crop protection, as well as hardware products from various national and multinational brands and delivers them at a farmer’s doorstep.
AgroStar plans to utilize the capital to expand its operations from Gujarat and Maharashtra to 3-4 additional states in the next 12 months and also strengthen its tech and leadership teams.
The company wants to simplify and enhance the agriculture inputs business while also ensuring fair pricing, product availability, etc.
Growing smartphone penetration in rural regions is boosting the growth of m-commerce platforms, creating a massive opportunity as these markets are virtually untapped.
