That hurts!
In a major embarrassment, India’s national carrier, Air India has been rated the third worst airline in the world, according to a list compiled by aviation insights company Flight Stats.
The worst airline, according to the list, is Israeli airline El Al and the second-worst is Icelandair.
According to FlightStats, besides tracking the monthly data released by US Department of Transportation on punctuality of airlines, it uses 500 other sources to finalize the ranking; some of which are: airport runway times, radar services logs, official airline records, airport data, flight-tracking and positional services, and tons of data procured from Eurocontrol and the Federal Aviation Administration and other regional aviation hubs.
Air India, of course, has not taken the ranking too well and has rubbished the report, alleging that it was “fabricated”.
“We totally disagree with the report published by an agency about Air India. Initially, it seems that the report is fabricated so the Air India management will investigate the report till the end,” airline spokesperson Dhananjay Kumar said in a statement.
