E-commerce giants Flipkart and Amazon India are battling hard for market leadership thanks to their ongoing flagship sales events. While Amazon has claimed the sale of 1.5 million units in the first 12 hours on Saturday, rival Flipkart on Sunday said it had crossed passed the number by selling 2.25 million units in just 12 hours. This figure includes sales made on Myntra, which Flipkart acquired in 2014.
Snapdeal, which is also running its festive sale said that more than 2 million users logged on its platform during the first hour of sale. The company claims that more than 1.1 million people had made purchases on its platform on the first day.
