Amazon India too has entered grocery space and has launched Amazon Now, an app for ordering everyday essentials. The service offers express delivery within 2 hours or one can opt for 2 hour scheduled delivery slot (app link).
Amazon Now is an Android app-only service and is available in selected parts of Bangalore to start off.
“We are encouraged by the learnings from Kirana Now – a pilot that we started last year in Bangalore to enable customers to shop for their everyday essentials from the ecosystem of their local stores and get them delivered within two-four hours. We are excited to expand that service to include more selection, more pin codes and invite other branded retailers, with the launch of a dedicated Android app Amazon Now. Customers can now choose more than 6000 products from the ecosystem of kiranas and other favorite local stores and get these delivered using Express –in two hours or Scheduled deliveries. Amazon Now customers in Bangalore will love this service and our launch promotion will delight them further,” said Samir Kumar, Vice President Category Management, Amazon India.

Flipkart too launched its grocery app, though the app has seen only 100K downloads, which sort of questions the execution efforts/focus of Flipkart. Ola too has entered grocery space with Ola store.
