American retailer Amazon, which launched its marketplace Amazon.in for Indian market in June this year, has expanded its product portfolio with four new stores. Toys & Games, Baby Products, Personal Care Appliances and Health Care Devices, are now available on the portal, the company said.
Last month the marketplace launched a dedicated store for “Computers and Accessories.”
Except the four newly launched categories, currently, the portal offers products under seven stores namely, Books, Kindle, Movies & TV, Mobile & Accessories, Computer & Accessories, Cameras & Photography and Portable Media Players.
In total, Amazon.in offers more than 70,000 products, 9 million books and 1.7 million e-books, across eleven categories.
The website claims to offer the largest online selection of Toys in India under “Toys & Games Store”. It features more than 8500 products from over 80 brands. The Baby Products store features more than 3000 products from 50 plus brands.
The Personal Care Appliances and Health Care Devices stores combined have 1100 plus products from more than 60 brands.
Considering the festive season ahead, the company will also launch products in Home and Kitchen categories soon. The expansion of horizontal marketplaces into niche verticals will put pressure on niche online retailers.
