Amazon Launches Global Store in India, For Purchase of Goods From US

The e-commerce giant has announced the launch of its Global Store in India that will allow customers here to buy products sold on its US website and pay in local currency.

Till date, Indian customers wanting to buy products on the US website had to pay in dollars, provided the seller was willing to ship them. The dedicated site will list out eligible products that can be shipped to India, which will be displayed in Indian rupees, inclusive of import duty and tax deposits, making the process more reliable.

Products in the Amazon Global Store can be ordered using credit or debit cards, as well as netbanking (you can’t avail cash on delivery), and will take 10 to 15 days to arrive.

For now, only products from its US website will be available on the global store in India, however, Amazon plans to add more countries later.
