Amazon has made its first ever first delivery using a drone, in the UK and the company claims the package arrived safely at its destination in Cambridge, 13 minutes after being ordered.
Amazon’s private trial of its highly anticipated Amazon Prime Air drone-powered delivery program kickstarted with only two customers. The company said it will expand the service to more customers near its Cambridge fulfillment facility in the coming months and later grow to hundreds. Once an order is placed, the drone is loaded with the package, which then takes off at heights up to 400 feet to make the delivery and then return to the facility.
