Amazon has notified advertisers that it will be retiring Product Ads as of October 31. The company will simultaneously introduce a new ad format called Amazon Text Ads.
The company hasn’t given any details about why it is shutting down Product Ads which is a popular tool for online retailers. In a recent survey, 35% respondents said that Product Ads and Sponsored links offered the best return on investment.
Product Ads basically give online retailers that don’t sell directly on Amazon a chance to advertise their products and direct consumers to their own websites or competing platforms.
