Andhra Pradesh and Telangana have jointly topped the ‘Ease of Doing Business Reforms Ranking 2015-16’, conducted by the Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion (DIPP) and the World Bank.
Gujarat, which topped the list last year, dropped to the third position. Delhi has slipped from 15 to 19 this year and Karnataka from 9 to 13. Haryana and Uttarakhand are new entrants in the top 10.
The ranking studies the extent to which the states have implemented DIPP’s 340-point Business Reform Action Plan, in the period between July 2015 and June 2016, which includes practices spanning the lifecycle of a business.
The results are based on an online real-time dashboard created by DIPP that updates rankings every time a response by a state is validated by the organization.
