My Airtel app clocks 200,000 downloads in two weeks
Bharti Airtel’s ‘my airtel’ (link) app that was launched a fortnight back has clocked over 200,000 downloads across Android, iOS, Blackberry and other platforms. The app enables consumers to check their outstanding bills, recharge their accounts, make payment, activate deactivate any service, requests-complaints (mobile, fixed line DTH etc).The apps also feature on top downloaded apps lists on the Apple and Android platforms.

MapMyIndia slashes price on navigation app
Post iOS goofup with maps, MapMyIndia, the location based services and maps firm has dropped the price of its navigation app, ‘Sygic and MapmyIndia for a limited period of time (GPS Navigation’ on Apple’s iOS platform) (link) from $49.99 to $29.99. MapmyIndia app offers detail mapping for Indian cities, spoken street names (text-to-speech), maps with road coverage, POI database, speed limits  and towns including house numbers for major cities. The current app downloads all maps on the device and there are no data costs charged.

Rediff has launched Rediff News application for Android devices (link). The app allows users to browse through updates across various news categories like Business, Movies, Sports, Cricket, Get Ahead, Travel, Lifestyle, and Careers including several others.

Muthoot launches Android & Apple apps to buy gold and silver
Now consumers can buy gold and silver with the simple tap of button on their mobile phone as Muthoot group has launched ‘Muthoot Group Apps’ for Apple and Android phones and tablets. Mobile ad network for app developers has partnered with Sony Music to serve premium ads on the newly launched Coke Studio app. Powered by the company’s AppWrapper, this partnership will allow advertisers to reach out to mobile consumers through full screen ads. The Coke Studio App is available on the Android Play Store as a free download.

Coke Studio is a musical show where artists collaborate to creaet music. AppWrapper supports Video, Interactive HTML5 and other Rich Media formats.The partnership will soon extend to other premium apps and content properties of Sony Music, the company said in a statement.
