In another move that could suggest Apple is building an electric car, the company has hired Doug Betts, former global quality head at carmaker Fiat-Chrysler Automobiles.
Betts’ LinkedIn profile says he joined Apple in July with his title described as “Operations-Apple Inc.” and a location in the San-Francisco Bay Area.
Apple did not comment on the new hire, and more importantly did not reveal if Betts would work on the existing line of Apple products of on the company’s rumoured cars.
Betts isn’t the only automotive industry executive Apple has hired recently. The company recently recruited one of the leading autonomous driving researchers in Europe.
It is rumoured that Apple too is getting into the self-driving vehicle race like its arch-nemesis Google. The news of tech companies entering the traditional auto space has kicked off sort of a race in the industry.
There have been several rumours in the past suggesting that Apple was in fact building an electric car, but so far there hasn’t been a peep from the company, so we’re going to have to wait and watch.
