A day ahead of Apple’s WWDC 2015 developer conference, CEO Tim Cook has come out saying that he firmly ‘diversity’ is the future of the company.
“I think the most diverse group will produce the best product, I firmly believe that,” said Cook in an interview with Mashable at an orientation program for recipients of WWDC Scholarship.
He went on to say that the problem of not having enough women in tech was still rampant and credited it to the lack of female role models in the industry.
Apple too is sort of responsible for that. While its latest diversity report said 30% of the company is made up of female employees, there was only one woman up on stage at this year’s apple watch event held in March.
Cook has hinted that at this year’s keynote things are going to be very different. “You’ll see a change tomorrow,” he said.
