Apple Gives Google’s Nest Thermostat The Boot From Its Stores

Apple has removed the connected thermostat from Nest, a company which Google acquired last year, from its online and retail store.

The company has done so in order to drive consumers’ sole attention towards devices that take advantage of its HomeKit standard, such as the Ecobee 3 – a wireless thermostat that competes with the Nest thermostat.

Nest’s two other products, the Protect smoke detector and security camera have also disappeared from Apple stores, however, Nest notes that the change is temporary.

This isn’t the first time Apple cleared products off its shelves for its own or its partner’s gain. The company stopped selling all third-party fitness bands before the launch of the Apple Watch.
