Apple Tracks Employee Attendance in Attempt to Cut Costs

Apple is tracking its employees’ attendance at offices using badge records.
Employees are required to be in the office on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays.
Most employees are able to work remotely on Wednesdays and Fridays.
Apple is giving employees “escalating warnings” if they don’t come in the required three times per week.
In some offices, failure to comply could result in job termination, although this is not a company-wide policy.
Apple is also taking a closer look at work attendance and hours in retail stores.
The company has ditched its “special sick time” for time missed due to Covid, and is asking staff to use their normal sick time instead.
Apple is not always filling positions when employees leave, suggesting a crackdown on staff who do not fulfill the in-person work requirements.
