Arvind Kejriwal on Ecommerce : It’s A Scam

AAP’s Arvind Kejriwal, while addressing a group of traders in Delhi has called Ecommerce business ‘an online scam’.

Online Vs. Offline Retailers : The War is ON
Online Vs. Offline Retailers : The War is ON

“Investigation is the only alternative left with us. Selling an item which costs Rs 20 for Rs 18 is no business logic.”
He also added that “party is not opposed to ecommerce because of its convenience to customers. “

This raises an important question on short-term vs. long term outlook of politicians towards the rising tech industries which are competing with the offline industry head-on. Ofcourse, offline players aren’t too happy with the online players, but the smarter ones are trying to fit-in.
As we have said earlier, government needs to ease #SellInIndia reforms before we go big bang on #MakeInIndia.
And till we fix that, everything that government says about supporting entrepreneurship is a scam.

  • Hi, this is not expected from NextBigWhat. Please share the complete excerpts, not the half truths. He also mentioned “Party is not opposed to ecommerce as it is convenient to customers but to their pricing strategy (known as Predatory Pricing) “

  • As per lot of economists, even the whole of banking system is a big scam and a govt sponsored one which bitcoin is trying to disrupt but then bitcoin itself looks like a scam. Only pre-historic men lived a scam-less world.

  • Tarun bhai, sorry to say but the headline of the article projects some facts in wrong way. A.Kejriwal didn’t termed eCommerce as a scam but termed “Predatory Pricing” or what we say is Superlative Discounts as a scam.
Investigations needs to be done is what he said. Isn’t the present Government already investigating a very popular eCommerce Player for violations of Competition Act and in counts of Predatory Pricing after a huge sale day.
What unique did Kejriwal said – nothing. Did he spoke against eCommerce – Absolutely No.

  • Whatever said and done, it is bringing more competition in the market. Competiion is welcome for the consumers as in the end they are the ones who benefit. Whereas the companies become more innovative in their approaches to acquire customers and provide innovative stuff… Its a pure win situation for the consumers/ users !

  • offline traders who sell branded goods are unable to hide indirect taxes,Direct taxes they can hide easily. You think big chains pay full taxes then you dont know how business works here.
