India’s largest Brick and Mortar retailer-Future Group has launched the B2C portal for Bigbazaar Direct.
Early this year the Group had launched its franchisee model retail format under the branding of Bigbazaar Direct [Read : Big Bazaar Direct Franchisee Model : Decoding the Economics].
Big Bazaar is targeting 50,000 franchisees by the end of the year through this Franchisee based business model, which allows consumers to buy Big Bazaar products at their nearest retail store or kiraana outlet.
These consumers can now extend the shopping experience to their homes by simply logging in to the BigBazaar Direct store and enter the details of their nearest Franchisee while placing the order. The platform is integrated real time with SAP and Future Group’s warehouse management systems to ensure seamless running of finance and order processing operations
The major USP of this platform would be the availability of FMCG products and the delivery time for the orders coming through the website.
Big Bazaar currently has around 250 stores across 93 cities which catered to more than 25 crore customers in the past year.
With pure play online retailers like Flipkart and Amazon fighting to gain complete dominance in the online space it would be interesting to see how Offline to Online players would manage to create a dent in e-commerce market is expected to reach Rs 1,07,800 crores (US$ 24 billion) by the year 2015.
