Indian government has now set August 31st deadline for Blackberry to share the solution (or crack)for lawful interception of its messenger and enterprise services. If the company fails to provide the solution by August 31st, Indian government will block the two services, i.e. IM and enterprise services.
Other services like Voice/SMS/Email etc won’t be impacted.
While it’s great to see government taking the security issue so seriously, what would also matter is taking a final decision on Kasab case asap (and stop wasting taxpayers money). We need strong deterrents and instances of tough stands.
MNP
MNP has been delayed atleast 5 times and after BSNL failed to meet the last deadline of June, the fresh (and hopefully final) dates stands to be October 31st.
State-owned telcos BSNL and MTNL said they are ready with the infrastructure to implement the MNP service. The MNP was to be implemented by December 31, 2009 in all metros and in Maharashtra, Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu.
