News: Karbonn to buy South Korean Android Design Company, March 31st the new deadline for Blackberry

Indian mobile handset manufacturers have come of age and while Micromax is taking on Nokia head-to-head, Karbonn is going a step further with acquisition of South Korean design firm (Android device design) for $40mn all-cash deal.

The deal will be financed with a portion of the $250 million that Karbonn expects to garner from PE firms over the next three months [source].

March 31 is new deadline for BlackBerry services

The Government has set a fresh deadline of March 31 for telecom operators to provide interception facility to all Blackberry services. On the issue of accessing the BlackBerry Enterprise Services, the Government is insisting that RIM set up a BlackBerry infrastructure in India. While the company has asked for a guarantee that their service will not be banned if they set up a local infrastructure, the Government has ruled out giving such a promise.[source]
