In a move to attract techies to travel by public transport, BMTC has decided to offer its passengers free wi-fi in around 200 Volvo buses, especially those plying through Electronic City-ITPB and importantly, Kempegowda International Airport.
BMTC will also provide personalized entertainment through apps and will have CCTV to monitor security aspects.
“At present, there is a need to attract professionals, who depend on personal transport. If we offer facilities like Wi-Fi, more people will choose to travel in city buses,” says Biswajit Mishra, IT head of the BMTC.
The government is also providing free wifi hotspots in different parts of the city.
