Rooter, a one-of-a-kind social platform that connects sports fans and engages them during live sporting events, has raised angel funding of an undisclosed amount in a round led by Bollywood actor Boman Irani enabled by Kwan Entertainment. The round also saw participation from Dhruv Chitgopekar, partner, Kwan Entertainment, and Prantik Dasgupta.
This is Irani’s first investment in a startup.
The funds raised will be used to strengthen the technology team at Rooter as well as to create strategic partnerships with various sports platforms, teams, fan clubs and associations, the company said.
Launched in 2016 by Piyush and Soham Sinha, Rooter connects users with people having similar sports interests, around their workplace and home. It also provides pre-match quizzes, live match prediction games, and post-match interactions.
