BookMyShow Secures Rs 150 cr Funding from Saif Partners & Others at Rs 1000 Cr Valuation

BookMyShow LogoOnline ticketing company BookMyShow has raised Rs 150 cr from investors, at a valuation of Rs 1000 cr. Private equity firm SAIF partners, existing investors Accel Partners & Network18 participated in the round, said reports.

While the company has sold primary shares, the founders have also cashed some of their stake in the company. In total, the company has raised nearly Rs 300 cr from investors.

In March 2013, Bigtree Entertainment Private Limited, the holding company of BookMyShow announced the acquisition of Ticketgreenan entertainment ticketing portal focused on South India.

In August 2012, Network 18 which owned 60 % of Bigtree offloaded a minority stake worth Rs 66 cr to Accel Partners. At the time, Accel also picked up an additional stake in the company through a primary issue taking its total investment to Rs 100 cr.

A recent win for BookMyShow was its partnership with PVR Cinemas, which sold 55 million tickets through its cinemas in FY12-13. Until last year, PVR was selling its own tickets (through the box office & its own website). Last year, BookMyShow partnered with PVR cinemas to sell tickets worth over Rs 1,000 cr over the next five years on Bookmyshow.

BookMyShow said that it has over 35 mn visits and about 200 mn average page views a quarter. The company has sold over 100 mn tickets till date.
