A social media campaign to boycott Chinese goods has gained traction, with political bigwigs, including Assam CM Sarbananda Sonowal giving a call out to people across the state to stop buying the ‘Made in China’ products. The campaign is a rebuttal of sorts, against China’s continued support to Pakistan and for voting in the United Nations “against Indian interests.”
It’s unsure, how much of an impact this call out has made since it is not illegal to buy and sell foreign goods in the country, but reportedly, there have been numerous protests and call outs made against purchasing Chinese goods across India. In fact, a village court in Bihar’s Aurangabad’s district has given orders to ban all such products in their village, urging villagers to adopt Indian made products, instead.
