Till 2011 ecommerce pundits have argued about whether apparel is saleable online or not. However, currently it contributes major chunk of orders for ecommerce after books, electronics and mobile. Following the interest of consumers in categories, which perceived to have considerable touch and feel factor, entrepreneurs have started testing niche like handicraft. 
After Nethaat and Craftsvilla including few others, latest to evangelize the handicraft space is Exclusivelane. Excuslivelane is an online store for decoratives, wall decors, tableware, table lamps, amongst others. The Noida based startup allows users to choose various art and craft products across materials such as Terracotta, Recycled woods, Ceramic etc.
Founded by Dhruv Goyal, Kaushal Goyal and Madhav Dutta – Exclusivelane sources half of its offering from core artisan and rest from Non Government Organization (NGOs) and inhouse designers.
Currently, Exclusivelane does around 10-20 orders per day with few hundred page views. “We have observed that majority of our customers purchase 4-5 products in one shot because of which our Average Selling Price (ASP) is higher”, said Dhrv Goyal, co-founder, Exclusivelane.
Exclusivelane claims to ship the orders on the same day and ensures delivery in 3-4 days. Speaking about margin, “ We usually make margin between 20-30% on every transaction”, added Goyal.
With 7 members team, Exclusivelane plans to further strengthen its technology and procurement team. “We want to implement some of the unique functionalities in the website which will enhance the user experience and will give an opportunity to choose a customize product from available selection on the website,” concluded Goyal. As of now, the venture is being bootstrapped by founders and will be eyeing to raise fund after getting considerable scale.
