Hyderabad based deals portal BuyThePrice has been acquired by Naspers backed Tradus.com. According to a notice on Buytheprice website, the entire buytheprice catalogue is now available on Tradus.com.
Two years ago, Buytheprice, which was a portal for deals on Consumer Electronics and Appliances had raised its first round of funding from Rajan Anandan, Rehan Yar Khan, Sunil Kalra and several other investors.
Naspers invested in BuythePrice around Jan 2012 and around 5 months back, BuythePrice moved from pure play ecommerce to marketplace model. BuythePrice was powering Tradus’ (catalogue) backend for a very long time, but with Naspers investing in Flipkart, this consolidation was bound to happen.
Meanwhile, Tradus, launched in 2009 and backed by South African Media conglomerate Naspers, has also been seeing top level exits. At least three top executives, including Krishna Motukuri, the managing director of online Marketplace Tradus have quit the company in the last year.
Former Seventymm CEO Mudit Khosla had joined Tradus recently. Read our interview with Khosla here.
