Today more than 8 million students graduate every year from Indian colleges and hunt fora job. The logistics of recruiting graduates from various colleges spread across a large number of states is practically not feasible. Due to this obstacle most companies tend to recruit candidates locally/preferred location and hence do not get access to potentially better candidates who may be present elsewhere.
Kaamyaabi, Bangalore based startup aims to solve above problem by bringing together college, students and employers under one roof. The company offers two targeted services
1) Recruit@Desk for employer, and
2) Job Admission Test and Job Ready Training for students.
Job Admission test (JAT) is a unique test to help employers judge the employment suitability of a large pool of fresher (mostly targeting Tier-2/3 colleges). It gives candidates an equal chance to showcase their skills and talents to prospective employers and this removes the barrier of college name and geographical boundaries.
Each candidate enrolling in JAT has to attempt an examination on Quantitative Aptitude, Verbal Ability, Logical Reasoning, Data Interpretation and Personality type assessment, along with this a candidate can also appear for skills test depending on his/her stream. The companies have the access to these scores through their online account and they can assign weights to each section according to their specific requirements. Along with the scores, the entire curriculum vitae of the candidate is also available to them.
What’s important to note here is that there is no pass or fail in this system – rather students are allotted marks on specific parameters and companies select them against the parameters that match the job requirement.
Kaamyaabi team mentions that in October 2011, 284 candidates gave JAT and 228 got interview calls while 52 got job offers. They got a conversion rate of more than 18% which is higher than industry standards of recruitment.
The business models lies in charging employer, and college placement cells for the connection. Given the competitive nature of this market, its important for Kaamyaabi team to differentiate its offering by building authority – i.e. plan for “Kaamyaabi certificates” which students should aspire for!
