Canon India Warns Against Unauthorised Online Sellers; May Extend Warranties Offered by Offline Retailers

Canon India issues warning for buying from unauthorised online sellers. Certificates of authorisation have been issued for online selling of Canon printers.

Canon India is the latest in a series of electronic majors to issue an advisory against buying from unauthorised online portals.

The company has drawn up a list of authorised online sellers on its website. Among the authorised dealers for Canon printers are Flipkart, ebay and Amazon India. Canon has given certificates of authorisation to the companies.

Previously, Lenovo and Toshiba had issued warnings against online buyers for products that were being sold on heavy discounts. Lenovo had said that sites like Flipkart, Amazon and Snapdeal were not authorised Lenovo resellers.

In light of a similar situation, Canon India has also announced that it may offer longer warranty on offline buying (via). The company is considering a 12 month warranty for online retailers and a 15 month warranty for offline stores.

Recently, the Bangalore Cyber Police had also warned against fraud in online retail places.
