The premier B-schools this year received a total of 232,434 applications for admission to their management courses, up from 2,18,664 registrations for the test last year. According to IIM-B, the organising committee extended the deadline for registration by 5 days, which took the total from 2.08 lakh on September 22 to 2.32 lakh.
The registration for CAT was highest in 2009 when the IIMs received a record 242,000 applications. Apart from IIMs, more than hundred other top business schools select candidates through CAT.
