Percept Knorigin has launched a travel search engine, ChalBabaChal (expected a better name from a company that’s into digital advertising business) that will enable travellers to look for cheapest flight tickets, trains and hotels (source).
On the lines of iXiGo/Zoomtra, Chalbabachal crawls airlines/OTAs (for hotels) websites to render information matching the query. Revenues are earned on a commission basis (for airline search) and for hotels, the company has a rev share deal with OTAs.
ChalBabaChal – Launch Glitch? Or..?
Seems ChalBabaChal is crawling data only from selected airline websites (Jet/Kingfisher/Indigo?). If that’s the case, it surely doesn’t lives upto it’s positioning as a place to find best deals.
I searched for Bangalore->New Delhi (June 12th) flight and the cheapest ticket range starts from Rs. 9478 (while it’s Rs. 4371/ at iXiGo).
Percept Knorigin also owns Adchakra, an ad network and will sell ChalBabaChal inventory as well.
Do give chalbabachal a chal and share your opinion – is it something big in making or a me-too product?
All said and done, the team surely has a big challenge – right from established players to OTA being formed by airlines (Spicejet, IndiGo and Kingfisher partner to launch their online travel agency, Rang7).
