AI has played a very significant role in India’s Moon mission, Chandrayaan-2. The use of AI technology not only helps the rover land on the celestial bodies, but it assists the rover to trace water source, identify different minerals and send the research data back to earth.
Technologies like AI and Machine Learning are critical in rovers’ autonomous driving capability in challenging terrain, perform scientific research and analyze data received from the mission.
NASA’s next mission will also make use of AI to oversee the deployment of James Webb space telescope with a mirror weighing 705 kilograms.
