China approves first batch of AI-language service applications

  • China has granted approval to eight generative AI applications including Baidu’s Ernie Bot and ByteDance’s Doubao.
  • The applications have to be registered with China’s cyberspace authority and comply with new AI regulation laws.
  • The approval could result in rapid growth of AI-chatbots, as proven by Baidu’s Ernie Bot’s success.
