The cloud service market in India is set to grow 36% with Software as a service (SaaS) as the largest segment of the cloud services market in India, according to a new report. The report by Gartner said that SaaS comprised of 36% of the total market in 2012.
The market size of public cloud service in the country expected to touch $443 million in 2013 from $ 326 million in 2012, the report said.
Infrastructure as a service (IaaS), including cloud compute, storage and print services, continues to be the fastest-growing segment of the market in India, growing 22.7 percent in 2012 to $43.1 million, and it is expected to grow 39.6 percent in 2013 to $60.2 million. The report expects $4.2 billion will be spent on cloud services in India, out of which $1.6 billion will go to SaaS only.
The growth will result from adoption of cloud services for production systems and workloads, in addition to the development and testing scenarios, said Ed Anderson, research director at Gartner.
The cloud business process services segment (BPaaS) is the second-largest contributor after SaaS, comprising 23% of the total market in 2012 in India, followed by cloud infrastructure services (infrastructure as a service [SaaS]) at 13%, cloud advertising services at 12%, cloud management and security services at 11%, and cloud application infrastructure services (platform as a service [PaaS]) at 5%.
