11,295 Crores: The combined losses of top three ecommerce companies in India.


The last one standing is gonna stand under a mountain of losses and while the top three ecommerce companies are showering discounts on consumers, the combined losses has increased by 68% compared to last FY.

The combined losses of Flipkart (both e-commerce platform and the wholesale entity), Amazon Seller Services (wholesale unit yet to report results) and Paytm Mall jumped from Rs 6,726.6 crore in FY17 to Rs 11,295.5 crore in FY18, witnessing a 68% increase (source).

What about the revenue?

Their overall revenues witnessed a 44% increase from Rs 21,085.6 crore in FY17 to Rs 30,509.8 crore in FY18.

What lies ahead for these ecommerce companies? Who is gonna win? What will the winning company look like? Will this ‘economics’ of winning matter?
