Compensation of ₹50,000 to kin of those who died of COVID-19, recommends Indian government

The government of India recommended the states to pay ₹50,000 to the families of those who died due to COVID-19.

The central government had its own reservation about offering such a compensation earlier.

In an affidavit submitted to the court in July, the government noted that the state governments too cannot afford to pay such compensation due to limited capital.
