Congratulations Samsung, Hike and Bank Bazaar

I bought a new Jio Phone and while nobody in my friend/family list knows the new number (honestly, even I don’t), there are 3 companies who sent me (spam) SMS within few hours of the phone + SIM purchase.

  1. Samsung selling Samsung Pay.
  2. BankBazaar selling credit card approval.
  3. Hike is giving ‘FREE MONEY’ if I join.

– While many of you want to mark them as ‘worst spammers’, I am trying to look at the brighter side.

Spamming is almost like gravity – it’s just there (DND is dead, practically speaking).
But the question (and the brighter side) is:

How in the world are they so actively spamming while others aren’t ? Eventually, all (funded) companies spam – but some are exceptionally good at it.
They have a dedicated team and a continuous campaign running. Spamming is part of the marketing strategy and isn’t just a one-off campaign (like others – hello lenskart/licious etc etc.)

You have to give in to their tenacity and focus – a rare combo in today’s marketing world which often shifts from one cool app to another in no time.
Ugly it is, but the campaigns are probably working out and is way cheaper than other ideas.
