Craft Beer Brand Witlinger Secures Funding To Support Expansion Plans

New Delhi-based company, Kaama Impex has announced its aggressive expansion and growth plans to capture 30% of premium beer market in India and has recently secured seven digits (USD) funding from angel investors Jasmeet Marwah and Amit Anand to support its expansion plans.

The company also launched India’s first craft beer brand, ‘Witlinger’ in fresh bottles. The company has plans to sell 3.6 million bottles of Witlinger in key markets of Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, Chennai, and Goa in the first year of business with GMV (Gross Merchandise Value) of over USD 8 million.

Kama Impex was founded by Anuj Kushwah and began its operations in India in Jan 2010 and launched India’s first crafted beer, Witlinger in July 2014.

With a strong presence in Delhi and Goa, the company plans to reach out to Mumbai, Bangalore, Chennai, Pune, and Chandigarh markets in a strategic manner by the end of 2016.

Anuj Kushwah, founder, said, “With significant growth in retail and home consumption it was pure business decision to launch Witlinger in bottles. Witlinger has its own fan following due to its unique style and taste that no other beer brand in the country can match. It is first craft beer of India made with finest ingredients, thus giving honest and tasteful craft beer experience of UK. We plan to sell 5 lac cases by end of 2017 and then bringing the Witlinger taste to Tier 2 cities in next 2-3 years.”
