Delhi is voted as the love capital of India in an unique campaign flagged by Delhi based marketplace – SnapDeal. Over 4.5 lakh people participated in this campaign and Delhi emerged as the winner garnering over 53000 votes.

Snapdeal has capture votes of people from dedicated online destination (link) with presence on all social networking sites like Facebook and Twitter. The campaign was open for anyone to vote, upload photographs and videos denoting the city they associate with love the most across the country.

Job seekers get up, hiring across industries like IT, BPO get pickup: Naukri’s Job speak Index
Some good news for job seeker. Naukri’s Job Speak Index –  says sectors like IT, BPO and Banking have seen a double digit growth in their hiring numbers in January 2013. Unlike hiring trends of the last one year, Jan-13 saw maximum movement with the overall hiring activity moving up by 10% in Jan-13when compared to Dec-12.

While most important sectors saw positive movement in hiring activity, Telecom and Insurance sectors saw dipping hiring levels with index value going down by 6% and 8% respectively in Jan-13 over Dec-12. Oil & Gas sector saw a 24% improvement in hiring activity while both Banking and BPO sector saw 14% increase in their hiring levels during the same time period. Stable hiring levels were seen in the Auto and Construction sector.

Local search player Getit appoints Jaspreet Bindra as its new CEO
Local search and online classified platform Getit has appointed Jaspreet Bindra, erstwhile regional director (retail, entertainment & devices), Microsoft as its new chief executive officer (CEO). Bindra is replacing Sidharth Gupta, who served Getit over the past 10 years.

Before joining Getit, Bindra worked with Microsoft India for six years in various verticals right from its internet business, retail, entertainment and devices businesses. Sequoia funded company offers a platform for local searches, classifieds, micro communities and deals. In December, Getit announced partnership with yahoo to power later local search results.
