Indian cities are known for their traffic chaos and the obvious opportunity in this space is to help people with live traffic data.
The current version of the site is purely an information consumption and doesn’t offer needed services like search/traffic information for particular area etc.
Most importantly, it seems to be operational heavy and hence, questions over scaling a product like this to other cities (Mapunity has partnered with Airtel and uses cell-ids to track traffic, a far more technical solution than relying purely on feet-on-street).
Mapunity too has launched it’s Delhi portal (dtis.in) which showcases live traffic situation overlaid on the map.
If you are from Delhi, do give TheTrafficPeople a ride – do you think it solves a serious pain (given their current focus on information push)?
Also, share your feedback on Mapunity’s dtis.in service.
