Delhi Will Not Allow FDI In Retail Sector: AAP
The AAP led Delhi government made it clear that the government will not allow FDI in the Delhi’s retail sector.
The Delhi government further says that FDI in retail sector is unfavorable to the interests of traders in the city and it will lead to unemployment.
Few days before, the centre has released its consolidated FDI policy holding on to the UPA government’s decision allowing foreign retailers to start multi-brand stores in the country with 51 per cent ownership.
Furthermore, the Government says that it does not have blind opposition to the FDI, but it is of the firm view that the national capital does not require its entry in the retail sector at this juncture.
The Delhi government will once again report the state’s decision to the centre in regard to remove all ambiguity on the issue, which may arise due to the updated FDI policy.
