DIGIPUB raises concerns over threat to press freedom by India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Bill

DIGIPUB, backed by the Editors Guild of India, argues that the DPDP Bill could undermine citizens’ privacy, information, and freedom of expression.
The organization criticized content blocking powers, lack of exemptions for journalists, and possible surveillance which could hamper journalism.
DIGIPUB called for a Parliamentary Standing Committee review of the Bill.
