e-Comm policy draft unveiled; Proposes refund processing under 14 days

In a bid to safeguard consumers, the Government is coming up with a national e-Commerce policy. Among other key guidelines, the Govt. has proposed a 14-refund policy for refunds & returns and setting up of a grievance redressal system.

All e-Commerce companies are required to ensure all data collection, storage and usage comply with provisions of the Information Technology (Amendment) Act, 2008. The policy also directs the companies to ensure transparency in pricing and make sure that no promoter or key management personal have been convicted of any criminal offence.

The views from stakeholders on the draft will be reviewed on September 16.
