After Flipkart and Amazon began same-day deliveries, eBay has decided to reduce the delivery time for products drastically. The e-commerce marketplace has promised orders to be delivered to customers within 9 hours being placed.
The free service that is currently available only in Mumbai, has also only been extended across a select category of products with delivery only to certain ‘serviceable’ pin-codes in the island city.
The service can only be availed on the Mumbai-specific website for select products across tablets, mobile phones, cameras and laptops.
To avail the service, all orders must be placed before 12 noon. The company also claims guaranteed delivery by 9 pm the same day. On the downside, eBay will not be supporting cash-on-delivery for the service.
Mumbai being a city with over 11 million people, long commutes and massive congestion, it looks like a pretty tough task ahead of eBay. How well will the logistics of this pan out?
