Indifax : Email/Fax documents using Mobile

Indifax is a recently launched service that convert your mobile phone to a scanner/copier as well as fax machine (well almost!).

Once you register (one needs to pay $10), you can transfer picture stored in your mobile phone to Indifax (need to email them, i.e. GPRS mandatory). The service will convert the picture in print quality (one can also store these pics in Indifax’s online account) and can send to different devices.

While sending the docs, one can specify sender’s email id and Indifax will send the doc (as an attachment). Mobile recipients will receive a SMS link to get the printable copy of the document (i.e. GPRS needed).

What’s the right use case Indifax serves?

  • If you directly want to send email – you can do the same via your GPRS?
  • For other use cases, products like Mocodile, Qipit serves exactly the same purpose (and a lot more)

Indifax can probably get a good deal with corporates (esp with sales force), but I really don’t see any major consumer uptick.

What’s your opinion?
