End of banks with blockchain wallets, really?

Anthony Di Iorio – co-founder of Ethereum- is pretty upbeat about digital wallets. It sounds nice that blockchain-supported wallets could be the end for banks. After all, being your own bank is an idea quite fascinating and tempting for anyone looking for speed, flexibility and frictionless money.
No power that a third-party like a bank can exert! Plus, more privacy and security as the surface area of information is now sprawled across the world in such a wallet instead of being under centralised roofs.
But can it really work? Would regulators allow this ever? Also, there is always a flip side to everything too good to be true. Until then, Lorio’s fairy-tale world of smooth wallets sounds really lovely.
