Ericsson has acquired the 300-member workforce from Niche AI to strengthen the Indian unit of its Global Artificial Intelligence Accelerator. It is looking to add further 150 more engineers to GAIA and is open for both routes, organic hiring, and acquisitions.
With GAIA, the company wants to develop an AI and ML-powered open-source solution to modernize telecom network. It predicts that with the emergence of 5G technology, IoT and other network-dependent elements can be efficiently managed with AI and ML-powered technology.
Ericsson is only acquiring manpower from these companies and is not buying out their patents, clients or other assets. Financial details of Niche AI acquisition were not revealed.
