European Parliament backs law seeking to ban facial recognition tech

In a landmark resolution, the European Parliament has voted in favour of a law that seeks to ban the use of facial recognition technology in public places and law enforcement.

Further, the Parliament didn’t just rule in favour of banning facial recognition.

Over the past few years, the EU has led the world in terms of tech regulations, starting with the General Data Protection Regulations, which were introduced in 2018 and have become a blueprint for privacy laws around the world.
